Arduinos are awesome toys.
[EDIT] Our bird was spotted in ArduinoShow.com
This is Boobie the Tweet Bird (yes, its name is Boobie. Could also be Booby.). It was created as our project for Multimedia in Artistic Environments, where we had to build something involving Arduino and Processing. And because of the current hype around Twitter, especially inside DeCA, we thought it would be amusing if we created a replica of Twitter's mascot as an object to sit in your desk, tweetring all day long~
Basically, we have a rude processing application reading the rss feed coming from Twitter, and everytime a new message arrives from the ones you're following, the app sends a signal to Arduino, and the bird sings (there's a speaker hidden inside it), while its LEDs blink.
I helped with the programing, but didn't make most of it. But I built the birdie, using Fimo. Let's say, it was an amusing night with my classmates involving blue and white colored Fimo, tricky ovens, strawberry tea, and an odd scented pillow >_>
Our teacher is soon going to post our projects in his blog, along with videos and the Arduino & Processing codes we used, so others can enjoy our creations too, and make use of our codes for their own projects too.
There's still a lot for me to learn about Arduino and Processing programing, but I got some basics. Enough to make me buy an Arduino kit soon, so I can make experiments with it.
